Jane Rodgers

Jane Rodgers 75, of Hume, IL passed away at Newman Rehab Center in Newman, IL at 5:45 pm on Friday, January 29, 2016. Jane was born on December 23, 1940 in Covington, IN, the daughter of Charles and Elma (Duling) Ingram. She married Gene Rodgers on December 6, 1963 in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2006. Surviving Jane are her children; Michael Gene Rodgers and Stacie Jo Rodgers Livengood; two grandchildren Lauryn and Zachary Livengood; and Jane's sister Ann (Casimier) Mokijewski. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, one sister, one niece, and two nephews. Jane earned her Master's Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. She was a dedicated school teacher and taught in Danville and Georgetown schools before retiring. Jane also received the Golden Ruler Award. She loved shopping, gardening and reading. She also played Scrabble, enjoyed doing crafts and watching movies. Most of all she loved the time she spent with her family. A Celebration of Jane's life will be held on Thursday February 4, 2016 at 10 am at Sunset's Urbas Chapel in Westville with burial at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday February 3, 2016 from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Autism Society of America.
