Jane Houpt

Jane Monahan Houpt, age 79, of Danville, passed away at 12:06 pm on October 31, 2006 at her home. She was born May 16, 1927 in Danville the daughter of Matthew Joseph and Madeline (Berhalter) Hartshorn Monahan. She married William Claypool Houpt on October 22, 1949 in Danville. He preceded her in death in 1985. Jane is survived by seven sons: Tim Houpt of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill (Sharon Hall) Houpt of Danville, Andy (Mary) Houpt of Chesterton, IN, Jim (Ellen) Houpt of Charlotte, NC, Matt (Ellen) Houpt of Charlotte, NC, John Houpt of Charlotte, NC, Ted (Kathy) Houpt of Danville; two daughters: Kathy Houpt of Danville and Mary Houpt (Norbert Wobbe) Germany; 16 grandchildren: Joe (Angie) , Dave, Danny, Jack, Alec, Maddie, Emily, Abigail, Laura, Alex, Andrea, Katie Maggie, Sean, Erin, and Liam; and seven nieces and nephews: Ann (Mike) Robb, Janie Styer, Joe Hartshorn, Julie, Jeff, Rick, and Peter Houpt. She is also survived by her brother Harry Hartshorn of San Diego, California, and her brother-in-law Richard V. Houpt, Boca Raton, FL. Though a graduate of the University of Illinois, Jane chose to devote her life to taking care of her family and their many, many friends. She loved cooking and sharing her meals, was a lifelong reader, and loved to play bridge with her friends and euchre with her grandchildren. She was a devoted White Sox fan and loved watching tennis and basketball, especially when her children played.
