Jane Erwin

Jane E. Erwin, 79, formerly of Ridge Farm, Illinois, passed away at 10:48 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Twin Lakes Extended Care in Paris, Illinois.

Jane was born March 14, 1946, in Watseka, Illinois, the only daughter of the late George “Clyde” Harris of Greencastle, Indiana and the late Genevieve (Grisham) Harris of Paris, Illinois. Jane grew up in Martinton, Illinois, where she graduated as valedictorian of Donovan High School in 1964.

Jane married Charles “Chuck” E. Erwin, Jr. of Watseka, Illinois on November 19, 1966, and they enjoyed over 54 happy years together before he proceeded her in death on June 22, 2021.

Jane was a career homemaker and mother of two who later became a USA Bronze level bowling coach and worked as league record service secretary at Terre Haute Bowling Center in Indiana after her children were raised. She taught in-school bowling classes at Vigo County schools until she retired in October 2005 when they moved from Paris, Illinois to Ridge Farm, Illinois.

Jane enjoyed many different hobbies over her lifetime, including reading, baking, ceramics, tennis, bowling, cake decorating, QVC shopping, playing Wordline online (Tams friends), and bird watching. She loved Hallmark movies, southern gospel and oldies music, basset hounds, her friends, her family, and God.

Jane was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown, Illinois, and a former member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Paris, Illinois.

Jane leaves behind a daughter, Jennifer “Jen” Jackson of West Terre Haute, Indiana, and a son, David M. Erwin (Kim) of Benson, North Carolina. She also leaves behind three grandchildren: Tessa Clifton (Ricardo Ambrocio), Kirsten Brannan (Bobby) & Colby Erwin, and one great granddaughter, Evangeline “Evie” Brannan, born January 2025. Jane also leaves a dear brother-in-law, William Erwin (Judy) of Springfield, Missouri.

Celebration of Life service for Jane will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center's Houghton-Leasure Chapel, 200 E. West Street, Georgetown, IL 61846 on Sunday June 15, 2025, at 2pm. A short graveside ceremony to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm, Illinois. The family will see guests at the funeral home from 1:30-2:00 prior to the service.
