James West

Jim West, 84, of Covington, IN passed away on April 9, 2008 at His residence. Jim was born October 3, 1923 in Danville son of James J. and Gladys Manley West Sr. He married Jacquelyn N. Hampton on 8/30/1948 in Carson City, NV. She survives. Surviving is a Son: Dennis Patrick West; Daughter: Sherelyn (Mike) Madwena of Stockton, CA; Brother: Bill (Joan) West of Danville; Sister: Joyce (Bill) Long of Covington, IN. Grandchildren: Felisa West, and Jim West, also several nieces and nephew and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Son Michael Steven, Brother John, two Sisters: Mary & Alberta, and two granddaughters. Jim was a graduate of Danville High School and served for 12 years in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the Military he lived in California & Idaho for several years before returning to the Danville, IL and Covington, IN area. He was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville for a number of years, and also, a lifetime member of the VFW. Jim was a diehard Cubs fan and loved to fish and golf, he was know as Cappy on the golf course, and known as (the little man in the green van) around the Covington area. A Celebration of Jims Life will be held at 4:00 pm EST, Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Sunsets Covington Chapel 420 3rd Street Covington, IN 47932 with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm EST Saturday afternoon at the funeral home in Covington. Following the service he will be cremated per his and his familys wishes and returned to California.
