James W. Elkin

James W. Elkin, 87, of Danville, IL, passed away at 3:25 AM on Friday, April 20, 2012 at his residence. James was born on July 20, 1924 in Berea, KY, the son of Thomas Warren and Dora (Gentry) Elkin. He married Jetta Smith on January 9, 1946 in Kentucky. She survives. He is survived by one son-Warren (Dessie) Elkin of Danville, two daughters- Kathy (Gup) Kramer of Champaign and Karen Parker of Danville, two brothers- Ralph (Gayle) Elkin of Calabash, NC, and Enoch Elkin of Los Angeles, CA, seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, eleven nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Mary Elizabeth Elkin-Seals and one great grandson- Mitchell Kramer. James graduated from Berea High School. He retired from GM as a millwright in 1979. He was a member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Danville for over fifty years, serving as an elder for the last fifteen. He liked hunting, fishing, gardening, hosting family gatherings. James always signed his love letters to his wife of sixty-six years the same way, "All my love, All my life". A memorial service will be held for James on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Danville. A visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Kingdom Hall. Memorials can be made in James name to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 619 E.
