James Stuart

Danville- James M. Stuart, 85, of Danville passed away at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit at the VA Illiana Medical Center in Danville. He was born on November 23, 1927 in Danville to Vernon and Dorothy Miller Stuart. He married Margery Farmer on October 4, 1952. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, David C. (Debi) Stuart of Silver Spring, MD and Sam (Cheri) Stuart of Champaign, IL; two daughters, Laura E. (Keith) Youngquist of Mt. Prospect, IL and Jeanne E. (Rod) Pierce of Danvers, IL; and seven grandchildren, Max Youngquist, Harmony Youngquist, Britney Stuart, Ashley and Haley Stuart, Alex Pierce, and Samantha Pierce. He was preceded in death by his parents. While serving his country during WWII, James was stationed on a US Hospital Ship in the Pacific named "Hope". Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Accounting. James went on to work as an accountant from 1951-2003, working first at Kesler and Co., and then at Daughhetee & Parks PC. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Olive Branch Lodge in Danville and a member of the Scottish Rite. James was also a member of the American Legion Post #210. He was involved with the Red Mask Players both on and off the stage, serving as both former President and Treasurer. James had also served as the Treasurer for the Danville Arts Council. A service to celebrate the life of James Stuart will be held at 3 PM on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Pastor Randy Robinson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 3 PM prior to the services on Friday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church.
