James Staggs

James "Jim-Jimmy" Staggs, 72, of Stateline City, IN, formerly of Cates, IN, passed away on Saturday March 23, 2024, at Sain Vincents Hospital in Indianapolis. Jim was born the only child of Ray and Martha (Merryman) Staggs on July 19, 1951, in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Jim married Becky Watkins and she passed away on February 20, 2021.

Jim leaves behind three children; Jeff (Liz) Staggs, Heather (Micheal) Staggs, and Tiffany (Brandon) Lambert, six grandchildren; Drake, Conner, Christopher, William, and Luna, sister-in-law, Peggy Merryman, two nephews; Kevin (Kelly) Merrymen, and Jason (Angelia) Merrymen, and a niece Christe (Donavon) Badillo.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.

Jim was a graduate of Covington High School class of 1969. Jim worked for Vermillion County Highway Department for over thirty years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a past district commander for the Sons of the American Legion. Jim enjoyed working on small engines, watching wrestling, he was an animal lover and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 11 1 est, on April 1, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home and cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 E 3rd street.
