James C. Roloff

James (Jim) Clarence Roloff, 90, of Mahomet passed away on April 24, 2025, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, Illinois.

Jim was born July 30, 1934, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, the son of Clarence and Clara (Zimmerman) Roloff and was married to Jeanette Elizabeth Schlutter on August 27, 1953.

Jim spent his entire career as a truck driver, which he loved. He started driving for Skinner Transfer in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, as soon as he got his drivers license. In 1963, they moved to Champaign, Illinois, and worked out of the brand new Kraft plant there for LCL Trucking. He was known for a great sense of humor and a strong work ethic. After retiring from driving, he enjoyed spending summers at their cabin on Lake Windigo in Hayward, Wisconsin, where he spent countless hours improving and building a family retreat, which is loved, to this day, by many generations of his family. Jim also loved to travel the world with Jeanette. They visited every continent on the planet together except Antarctica, and especially enjoyed cruising and meeting new people.

Jim is survived by his sons Jeff (Susan) of Hudson, Illinois and Jay (Denise) of Mahomet, Illinois. His grandchildren are Devin (Jordan) Roloff of Glendale, Arizona, Carolyn (Kyle) Roloff of South Bend, Indiana, Collin (Angela) Roloff of Mahomet, Jennifer (Matt LeBlanc) Roloff of Pawtucket Rhode Island, Kaylyn (Matt) Rogers of Mahomet, and Madison (Cameron) Heiser of Monticello Illinois. His great-grandchildren are Lucas and Chloe Roloff of Mahomet, Addisyn, Emmelyn, and Callan Heiser of Monticello, and Hadley Rogers of Mahomet.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; Sisters, Virginia (Donald) Zuehlke Ault, Jean (Gilbert) Westerman, and granddaughter Laura Elizabeth Ellen Roloff.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Champaign, Illinois.

Arrangements have been made at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center’s Mahomet Chapel, 1102 Churchill Road, Mahomet, IL 61853.
