GEORGETOWN- James R. Jit Neitzelt, 89, of Georgetown, passed away at 7:41pm on Monday, July 25th, 2005, at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. He was born on April 12th, 1916, in Martins Ferry, OH, the son of Charles and Margaret (Kirkpatrick) Neitzelt. At the age of eight, James was then raised by his Uncle Reuben and Aunt Pearl Mariage. On May 18th, 1961, James married Mary Mesich in Danville and still resides in Georgetown. Other survivors include: his three stepsons, David (Debbie) Kanger of Somerville, TN, Mike (Jaime) Kanger of Indianola, and Nick (Rhonda) Kanger of Austin, TX; his daughter, Diana (Ron) Zigler of Fithian; his three grandchildren, Dana (Dave) Franz of Chrisman, IL, Scott (Angela) Kanger of Naperville, IL, and David Kanger of New Orleans, LA; his great granddaughter, Lindsey Franz. His parents, his Aunt Pearl, his Uncle Reuben, two brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter, Lori Price, preceded him in death. Mr. Neitzelt was a heavy machine operating engineer for the United Mine Workers, formerly, Ziegler Coal Mine for 21 years as well as working for the Local 841 out of Danville. In his spare time, James enjoyed gardening, raising his beagle dogs and various barnyard animals, but mostly spending the days with his family and friends. A celebration of James Jit Neitzelts life will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 28th, 2005, at Sunsets Houghton Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. He will be laid to rest at Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Wednesday, July 27th, 2005, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations can be made in James name to the American Diabetes Association and/or St. Isaacs Jogues Parish.
