James R. "Jim" Dowers

Eugene, Indiana - James R. "Jim" Dowers, 72, of Eugene, passed away at 5:29 a.m. EDT Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at his residence. Jim was born July 1, 1943 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late James and Thelma Shrout Dowers. He married Betty S. Kester on March 20, 1965 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1999. Survivors include one son, Robert A. (Shelly) Dowers of Cayuga, Indiana; three grandchildren, Trevor (Alexis) Dowers of Eugene, Indiana; Miranda Dowers and Skylar Dowers, both of Cayuga, Indiana; two great grandchildren, Braylin and Brantlee "Bubba" Dowers of Eugene, Indiana, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. Jim retired from the Vermillion County Highway Department. He was a member of the former Vermillion County Bass Club and Tri-County Archery in Clinton, Indiana. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
