James R. Hebermehl, 70, of Danville, Il passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, at his home. He was born February 17, 1948, in Danville to Richard P. and Mary Jane Meyer Hebermehl. Both preceded him in death. He graduated from Danville High School in 1966 and attended Danville Area Community College. He then graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1970 with a degree in education. He taught at South View Middle School for 34 years. On June 6, 1970, he married Pamela S. Hartshorn. They would have been married 49 years in June.
Jim was a member of St. James Methodist Church and a former realtor with Accent Realty. He was also a member of Further Light Lodge #1130 for 38 years. He was the President of the Board of Education Personnel Federal Credit Union, and was very active as an Off Ice Official for the Danville Dashers Hockey Team. He loved playing golf with friends at Harrison Park Golf Course and also enjoyed going on many trips to fish on Lake Michigan with his friend, Jim Conder.
Jim was very artistic and loved to oil paint and play his keyboard.
Jim is survived by his wife, Pamela, and their daughter, Debra A. (Gary) Hardy of New Carlisle, Ohio, as well as his two grand-children, Wayne T. Hardy and Mindy S. Hardy also of New Carlisle, Ohio.
Also surviving is his sister, Janet K. (Brad) Pipkin of Danville and a niece, Nicole (Brian) St. Jacques of Montgomery, Texas. His brother-in-law, Pat (Judy) Hartshorn of Danville, and a nephew, Michael (Dawn) Hartshorn of Danville. His aunts: Virginia Hebermehl of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gloria Hebermehl of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a very special aunt, Betty Linne of Danville.
A celebration of Jims life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville. Officiating the service will be Rev. Randall Robinson. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the funeral home. Jim will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his honor to Saint James United Methodist Church Building Fund.
