James Hollis Pierce, age 84, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born on February 21, 1942, in Campbellsville, Kentucky.
Hollis proudly served his country as a private in the United States Army. He had a lifelong love of music and played in a band for several years. A talented musician, he especially enjoyed playing the mandolin. Hollis was also an avid pool player and a gifted artist who hand‑drew many pictures throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Elliott Pierce; his mother, Pauline Pierce (Cross); his wife, Sharon Pierce (Allen); his brother, Gordon Pierce; and his niece, Robin Pierce.
Hollis is survived by his son, Randy Pierce; his grandchildren, Brooke (Chris) Atkins, Lauryn Elliott, Logan (Kari) Elliott, and Leighton (Anya) Elliott; his niece, Candice Craft; his niece, Sherri Boose; and his nephews, Gordon Pierce Jr. and Ray Pierce.
A graveside service for Hollis will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday March 24, 2026, at Danville National Cemetery with a short service and Military Honors conducted by Post 210. Please join Hollis’s family in sharing pictures, videos, and memories on his tribute wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
