James P. Duell

James P. Duell, 99, of Westville, passed away at 7:15am, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Accolade Healthcare, Danville, IL. He was born on February 29, 1924, the son of William L. and Mildred M. {Priest} Duell. He was married to Ila Mae Pollitt until her passing. James was also preceded in death by his brother, George and sister-in-law, Claudia Duell; his sisters, Geneva Sykes, Virginia Griffith, Lucille Lawson, Sarah Grave, & Irene Ritter; and his brothers-in-law, Perry Griffith, Jim Lawson, Gus Grave, and Ed Rice. James is survived by his sister, Wilma Rice, and many nieces and nephews. James, also known as "Shorty", retired from both Danville hospitals in maintenance and was a friend to everyone. His favorite phrases were, "Keep smilin & Dont take any wooden nickels!!" He was dearly loved by the staff and nurses at Accolade and everyone he met. A private family service was held. He was laid to rest in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. His family was assisted by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846.
