James Ostrander, 61, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:47am, Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born in Warren, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Margaret {Meehan} Ostrander on May 5, 1953. He was united in marriage to Connie Hughey on July 24, 1980, in Georgetown. She survives. He will also be missed by: his daughters, Amy (Brian VanCleave) Ostrander of Georgetown and Cassie (Todd) Shireman of Martinsville, IN; his step-granddaughter, Trisha Shireman; his sister, Debra (James) Burke of Kingman, IN; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his grandparents; and his sister, Linda Costello. James was a Veteran of the US Army. He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Local 269 & Local 44. He volunteered his time to help build the Korean/Vietnam Memorial in Danville and was a union advocate trying to start a labor museum. He also did some legislative work and was one of the founders of Septemberfest. James also collected hat pins from baseball games and coached adult baseball and little league. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of James life will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, May 19, 2014, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Matt Filicsky officiating. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to Georgetown Youth Sports Association or American Legion Post 210 Little League Baseball.
