James O. Flick

Covington, IN- James O. Flick, 95, of Covington passed away on December 1, 2016 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1921 in Bristol, TN the son of Hugh Taylor and Mollie Ann (Gentry) Flick. He married Eileen N. Rayl in Danville, IL on May 2, 1964 and she preceded him in death in 2004. James will be deeply missed by his children; Paul Flick of Danville, Dolores (Orick) Nightlinger of Danville, Linda (Ron) Cates of West Lebanon, IN, Sandy Dale Harper of Perrysville, IN, brothers; Everett (Sylvia) Flick of Bristol, TN and Ople Flick of Phoenix, AZ, 30 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughters; Sharon Clapper and Doris Moore, sons; Lester and Mike Harper, 5 sisters, 4 grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. James served our country in the Army Air Corp from 1941-1945 then began work at General Motors for several years. After his time at GM he worked at Jacobs Manufacturing in Danville and retired from the Danville VA. He was an avid supporter of veteran's organizations, the humane society and Covington American Legion Post #0291. James loved to garden and stay active mowing and helping out at First Church of Christ where he was a devoted member. A celebration of James' life will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM EST at Sunset's Covington Chapel 420 Third St. Covington, IN 47932 with Pastor Eddy Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM EST on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington. Memorials can be made in his name to First Church of Christ in Covington or American Legion Post #0291.
