James M. Miller

James M. Miller, 75, of rural Potomac passed away at his home at 4:21am on Wednesday May 21,2008 after a battle with cancer. He was born to Joseph and Jessie McMillan Miller on February 23, 1933 in Jamaica, IL. He married Patricia Pasley on July 18, 1959. She died on May 1, 2000. Together they had three daughters, Laura (Mike) Thompson, Norma (David) Ochs, and Jamie (Ron) Ginder. His grandchildren who shared his love of fishing and spending time outdoors are Amanda (Kelly Jones) Strink, and Nathan (Tia) Strink, Devin and Taylor Thompson, Aaron, Joshua, and Adam Ochs, Jacob, Sarah, Jennifer, Katherine and Patricia Annalise Ginder. His great granddaughters Addisyn Kaiser, Kaylen Jones and Hunter Strink enjoyed watching birds and spending time with Grandpa Miller. He enjoyed his time fishing and playing cards with his brothers who survive him Bill (Bonnie) Miller, George Miller, Paul (Marie) Miller, Harley (Sandra) Miller and sisters Maxine Scott, Josephine Doan, Patricia (Edward) McCormick and Linda (Gary) Christiansen. He was preceded by parents and a sister. James served in the US Navy from 1952-1956, leaving as a First Class Petty officer. While in the service he became a welder and after leaving the Navy he worked at Esco for 26 years until the plant closed. He then worked at ABB as a welder. We will remember the love he had for his family, fishing and the outdoors that he passed down to the grandchildren and we will all miss him. A celebration of Jamess life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday May 27, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Pastor Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. VFW Post 728 will provide military honors. The family will receive friends from 4-7:00pm on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to I & I Tractor Club or Provena Hospice.
