James L. Holmes

James L. Holmes, 77, of Chrisman, died at 1:55 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2006, at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. James was born March 16, 1929, in Madisonville, KY, the son of Forest and Eula Mae (Lear) Holmes. He married Glodean Rainwater and she preceded him in death in 1990. James then married Charlotte McPherson on March 16, 1991 in Georgetown, IL. She survives. James is survived by five sons, James (Amy) Holmes of Bloomington, IL, Steve (Carol) Holmes of Danville, Danny (Sissy) Holmes of Lexington, KY, Roger (Ann) Holmes of Metropolis, IL and Charles (Jodi) Key of Douglassville, PA; three daughters, Peggy (Terry) Richards of Pompano Beach, FL, Judy (John) Babb of Kentucky and Christie (Rick) Nitsch of Grove City, OH; five brothers, David (Judy) Holmes of Owensboro, KY, Gilbert (Linda) Holmes of Evansville, IN, Densil (Marilyn) Holmes of Michigan, Harold Holmes of Covington, IN and Chuck (Norma) Holmes of Kingman, IN; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; a special niece, Glenda Creek and a great niece, Jessica Creek both of Chrisman. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. James worked for 32 years at Heatcraft in Danville. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. James played guitar and bingo as well. He was past president of the Eagles Club #2799. A celebration of Jamess life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at: www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
