James "JW" William Hall, 83, of Tilton, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 15, 1939, in Tilton, IL, the son of Albert and Isabelle (Coan) Hall. James was united in marriage on December 5, 1959, to Ellen Gabehart, she survives.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Neal (Stella) Hall, Nancy (Jim) LaMar, and Amey (Jim) Morgan; grandchildren, Brock LaMar, Heather Hall, Jennifer Hall, Courtney Morgan, and Wyatt Morgan; great grandchildren, Angeline Hall, Brendyn LaMar, and Connor Brown. James was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Donna.
James was proud to serve his country in the United State Air Force from 1958 to 1960, as an aircraft mechanic. His guard was at the International Continental Ballistic Missiles in Topeka, KS. He attended Westville High School, graduating in 1958. He worked at Allityh Prouty and Hyster as a welder, also worked at General Motors on the assembly line. James was a member of the Westville First Church of Christ. He enjoyed running track in high school, deer hunting, and anything outdoors in the woods.
A celebration of James life will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 414 S. State St. Westville, IL, with Pastor John Mincy officiating the service. A visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Sandusky Cemetery in Westville, IL. In lieu of flowers donation may be given in his name to Westville First Church of Christ.
