James Jimmy Arthur Lynch Sr., 78, of Danville, Illinois passed away on June 10, 2010 at North Logan Health Care in Danville. Jim was born July 11, 1931 in Charleston, Illinois son of James C. and Merna (Harrah) Lynch. He married Mary Jo Mast on February 16, 1980 at St. James Chapel in Danville. She survives along with ten children: James (Cindi) Lynch, Mike (Barbara) Lynch, Mark (Linda) Lynch, Paul (Christina) Lynch, Jean Thompson, Libby Lynch, Catherine (James) Rinner, Sandie (Donnie) Watson, Carol Butler and her daughter Rebecca Courchesne, and Cheryl (Jimmy) Vincent; thirty-three grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; and a special friend Bobbie Ennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, son Steve Butler and two infant grandchildren. Jim was a graduate of Teachers College in Charleston, Illinois and Eastern Illinois University with his degree in chemistry and minor in physics and math. He had worked for TeePak for 22 years and later taught GED classes at the area prison, as well as teaching Chemistry at Danville Area Community College for 20 years. Jim was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville for a number of years, and also belonged to the K of C, IRTA, VCRTA, and AFSCME. He was an avid Cubs and Colts fan and enjoyed reading and trivia, but above all he loved spending time with his family and friends. A Celebration of Jamess Life will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home with a prayer service being held at 8:00 pm.
