James 'Jim' Swisher

James (Jim) S. Swisher, 90, of Danville, passed this life on Feb 2, 2023, at 10:00 am. He was born Mar. 15, 1932, in Danville, IL, the son of George and Madge Swisher. He married Susanna Swisher Oct. 30, 1954, in Elkton, MD. Susanna passed away on Jan. 12, 2007, after their marriage of 52 years. They had no children. Jim retired from the Illinois State Police after 27 yrs of service. He was a graduate of Danville High School and a Veteran of the Korean War, with 4 yrs of service in the US Navy. Jim and Sue traveled for many years and made many trips by motorcycling. Jim was not a member of any church but had given his heart to the Lord and was baptized over 58 yrs ago by Pastor Donald C. Goodwin of Danville. Preceding him in death was his parents & his wife. Jim had three sisters, a brother, and one niece, all of which are deceased. He will be buried in the family plot in the Centennial Cemetery in Yeddo, IN next to his dear wife.

Jim is survived by a nephew, Carl (Sharon) Johnson of Wisconsin; a niece, Rita (Eric) Johnson of Michigan. He is also survived by a special friend for over 80 years, Richard Goodwin and his wife, Ardith of Rantoul and their daughter, Teresa Schleinz of Champaign. Also surviving Lynn Wicoff of Danville and her sister, Theresa Harris of Florida, and the extended Goodwin Family.

Jim has lost many friends that were special in his life and who are now with the Lord.

Visitation will be held on Feb. 8, 2023 from 10-11 am at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville, with a funeral service following at 11 am. Pastor James Blue will officiate.
