James "Jim" Long, 82, of Danville, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana. He was born on April 3, 1938, the son of Lucille (Brown) and Isham Long in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Norma Jean; daughters, Lisa (Alan) Girton and Kris (Steve) Martin; stepchildren, Cheryl (Kevin) Murdock, Ken (Barb) Miller, and Lisa (Bill) West; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Preceding Jim are his parents; grandson, Cody Miller; 3 brothers; and 1 sister.
Jim served 6 years in the United States Army. During that time, he suffered from snow blindness which affected him throughout his life. He became a Master Mason of the 32nd degree in 1981 and was also a part of the Carpenters Local Union 133. Jim spent a lot his time at Lake Hideaway in Kingman, IN. He loved the outdoors where he could fish, hunt, and camp. He passed on that love to his children. Most of all Jim loved his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 has been entrusted with arrangements. Per Jims wishes he will be cremated. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
