James "Jim" L VanEtta

James (Jim) L VanEtta, 87, of Covington, IN passed away at 3:31 AM on July 4, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

James was born on October 4, 1937 the son of Gladys Nixon in Flat Rock, IL. He married Barbara (Dianne) LaMont on May 23, 1959 in Farmer City, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Dianne) his children, James (Donna) VanEtta of Covington, IN, Vickee VanEtta of Attica, IN and five grandchildren, Bridgette VanEtta (Mark Bolser), Stuart VanEtta, Wesley VanEtta, Casie (Eric) High, and Anthony VanEtta. James is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Dylan, Adisen, Morgan, Maci, Maddie, Avery, Wyatt, Nova and Grayson and one sister, Barb Marino of Shawnee, OK.

James is preceded in death by his mother, father, and several siblings.

James spent four years in the Navy. He was a Mason with Fountain Lodge No. 60 in Covington, IN and was also a Shriner. James enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing and trap shooting. Most importantly being with his family. James owned and operated Jim’s Service in Covington, IN for many years alongside his son. This shop became his second home where he enjoyed socializing with all the customers who came in. James made a difference in many people’s lives with his presence, laughter, and sense of humor. He will be missed very much.
