James 'Jim' Hardy

James "Jim" Hardy, 81, of Westville, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. He was born on August 6, 1940, in Saginaw, MI, the son of Virgil and Mary (Fulara) Hardy.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Tammy (Don) Coon and Trudy (Kenneth) Rose; brother, Jack (Sue) Hardy; sisters, Josephine Maxwell, and Sharon McMasters; grandchildren, Philip Coon, Patrick Coon, Hunter (Victoria) Rose, and Kyle Rose; great granddaughter Harley Rogers, several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Dolores Vilk, Martha Stewart, Kathleen Bunting, Virgene Mascari and his beloved friend Donna Kelly.

Jim Graduated from Schlarman High School in 1959. He worked several years at General Motors before retiring in 1992. Jim enjoyed watching his beloved Illini, Chicago Cubs and Bears. He had a very strong faith and was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. Jim enjoyed playing euchre and poker with his friends and getting together for breakfast with his classmates. One thing he cherished most of all was spending time with his family, especially the family picnics, super bowl parties, and Christmas gatherings. He let everyone know that he was so proud of his grandchildren and great granddaughter. Jim was known to many as the life of the party and could make anyone laugh. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, February 14, 2022, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville. A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, IL, 414 S. State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. A Catholic rosary will be held at 12:30pm at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the visitation. He will be laid to rest in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Westville. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to OSF Bobette Steely Hegeler Cancer Care in Danville or St. Marys Catholic Church in Westville.
