James 'Jim' Gill

James Jim Gill, 87, of Ridge Farm, passed away at 4:08am, Sunday, September 18, 2022, at his home. He was born on March 24, 1935, in Wayne County, Illinois, the son of Gaylord and Bonnie {Frank} Gill, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Gaskin on December 19, 1953, and they enjoyed 67 years together until her passing on April 7, 2021. Jim is survived by his children, Rick Gill of Avon, IN, Steve (Hyong) Gill of Memphis, TN, and Terri (Leon) Compton of Westville, IL; his grandchildren, Nick, Jim (Janna), Mike (Kim), Savannah (Chase) Gill-Dorsett, Garret (Renae) Black, and Cassidy (Joe) Spesard; his eight great grandchildren; and his brother, Jerry (Martine) Gill. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Gill; his three sisters, Lois Stanley, Doris Poppe, & Kaye Cash. Jim worked at Midwest Central Operating Engineers for 32 years. He was a member of the Local 841. He enjoyed being outside whether it was hunting, camping, or fishing. Above all else, his family was most important to him, and he loved spending his time with them. A celebration of Jims life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Clay City Cemetery, Clay City, Illinois, with Kevin Billingsley officiating.
