James "Jim" F. Cummins

Cayuga, Ind. - James F. "Jim" Cummins, 69, of Cayuga, passed away at 1:19 a.m. EDT Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Union Hospital Clinton in Clinton, Indiana. He was born on March 21, 1943 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of the late James D. and Lillian G. Proll Cummins. He first married LaNette Cook, who preceded him in death on March 7, 1995. He later married Laura A. Sprouls on April 29, 1995 in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Tina Schultz of Michigan City, Indiana; Jamie(Stacey)Cummins of Williamsport, Indiana; Amy Harper of Danville, Illinois; William Cummins of Attica, Indiana; Michelle(Curt)Webb of Perrysville, Indiana and Erica Cummins of Clinton, Indiana; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four sisters, Betty(Dowayne)Osborne, Ellen(Larry)Johnson and JoAnn(William)Peterson all of Cayuga, Indiana; Mary(Terry)Badger of Covington, Indiana; two brothers, David(Terry)Cummins of Lewistown, Illinois and John Cummins of Danville, Illinois. Jim went to join his granddaughters, Katie Ingalsbe and Tabitha Cummins; one great granddaughter and one sister, Carol Brown. Jim retired as a mechanic from the Danville School District, now known as First Group. He formerly delivered the Commercial News in the Cayuga area. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, boating, gardening, working around the house and visiting with people. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday, April 12, 2012 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana. There will be a private family graveside service held at Hughes Cemetery in rural Perrysville, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, Illinois 60674.
