James "Jay" P. Roach

Cayuga, Ind. - James "Jay" Roach, 66, of Cayuga, passed away at 1:10 p.m. EDT Friday, July 3, 2015 at his residence. Jay was born on February 4, 1949 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of the late James and Irene (Gilpin) Roach. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Roach, and two sisters, Louise Coy and Helen Calton. Jay is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan (Dixon) Roach, whom he married on September 13, 1980 in Westville, Illinois. Other survivors include two daughters, Carmelita "Punky" (Tony) Spivey of Clinton, Indiana and Jami (Dennis "Buster") Naylor of Cayuga, Indiana; five grandchildren, Tristan, Ariel and Dakota Spivey of Clinton, Indiana and Evan and Callie Naylor of Cayuga, Indiana; one sister, Ruby Ramsey of Texas; two brother-in-laws, Frank(Denise)Dixon of Georgetown, Illinois and Raymond Calton of Danville, Illinois; special nephew, Tony(Kristin)Dixon of West Terre Haute, Indiana; specail cousin, Barb Murray of Danville, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews. Jay retired from General Motors as a core operator after 25 years of service. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, playing poker, and singing karaoke. Jay loved to watch the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. His other love was to spend time with his grandkids and watch them play ball. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Monday, July 6, 2015 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana with funeral services following at 7 p.m. EDT; Officiating: Keith Warner. Per Jay's request, cremation will be accorded. The family request contributions to the Hospice VNA of the Wabash Valley, 400 8th Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana 47804.
