James H. Dillon

At the age of 73, with a full life James Hargis Dillon passed this life in the presence of his loving family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathy M. Dillon; 3 of his daughters, Tawana (Danny) Edwards, Dawn (Dane) Severado and Tamara Dillon all of Danville, IL. He married the love of his life on September 1, 1964. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching his Chicago Cubs and cooking shows. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Joshua (Tracy) Edwards of Tilton, IL Felisha (John) Hale of Danville, IL, Alexis (Max) Kioebge of Tilton, IL, Aaron Haun (Shylee) of Danville, IL, Zachery, Alijah, and Noah. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren all of whom he greatly enjoyed nicknaming and singing songs to. He is survived by his friend and uncle Joe (Sharon) Brown, his siblings, Ethel (David) Barnes of Marion, IL, Jerry (Kelly) Dillon of Danville, IL, Luella Cramer of Williamsport, IN, Ira (Laurie) Dillon of Danville, and Monica (Eddie) Schmidt of Danville, IL. He has many surviving nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; Leroy and Thelma Dillon, siblings, Gid, Junior, Lester, William Joe, Delmer, Ronald, Jewell Acree, and Mavis Winters. He was also preceded by his daughter, Tanya Dillon. Words can never truly tell what makes a man great; it is in his actions that speak as to who he was. We will always remember you, for now you live only within those that love you. Farewell for now. A celebration of James' life will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 4 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be held from 2 -4 PM, Friday prior to the service.
