James Everett Grider Sr.

Champaign - James Everett Grider Sr., 90, passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Newman Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newman, IL. He was born on May 13, 1929 in rural Champaign County, IL. Jim married Dorothea Mae Saathoff on August 18, 1951 in Coronado, CA.

Jim is survived by his wife; children Danny (Rita) Grider, Barbara Anderson, JR (Pat) Grider, Jolene Grider, and Patti Grider; grandchildren Jim, Jennifer, Jeff, Christina, Jill, David, and Nick; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law John Anderson, and son-in-law Ken Rauckman.

Jim was the owner of Grider Truck and Auto Repair until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and he was a member of the American Legion for 49 years.

A memorial visitation will be held in Jims honor from 1-3pm on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N Neil St. Champaign, Illinois 61820. Private interment will take place at Prairieview Cemetery in Savoy, IL. Memorial donations may be made in Jims name to the organization of the donors choosing.
