Oakwood- James Elmo Trask died unexpectedly while on a golf trip in Myrtle Beach on November 29, 2012. Jim was born on March 14, 1947 in Alton, IL to Elmo and Mildred Trask. He married his loving and devoted wife Vicki Crawford on July 20, 1974. She survives. He is survived by his son Matthew (Heather) Trask; granddaughters Claire and Stella Trask; brother Don (Nancy) Trask; mother-in-law Joan Crawford; sister-in-law Judy Steffen; nephews Brady (Jenn) Trask and Daryl (Danielle) Trask; his niece Meredith (David) Culp and great niece Caroline Culp; God daughters Heather and Tamryn Gromley; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles, brother-in-law Gary Steffen, and father-in-law Gene Crawford. Jim lived life to the fullest. He loved many things; golf, fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, "Camp Dream", Illinois tailgating, and spending time with his granddaughters, the loves of his life. He was a lifelong educator. After graduating from Eureka College he taught math and coached football and basketball at Homer High School. He was then principal at Oakwood Grade School and Newtown Middle School. He was elected Regional Superintendant of Schools in 1995 and then retired in 2005. Services for Jim Trask will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Reverend Kim Dancey will officiate. Burial will follow at Stearns Cemetery in Oakwood. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, December 3, also at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the E-Tribe of Eureka College or Oakwood United Methodist Church.
