James Riley Ellis, 87, of Danville, Illinois, passed away at his home on January 24, 2007. James was born January 12, 1920, in Danville, son of Harry and Gertrude Ellis. He married Bessie Wilson on June 30, 1941. She survives as well as two daughters, Norma Jean (Robert) Delmotte of Georgetown, Illinois, Majorie (Jeff) Hutton of Oakwood, Illinois, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and a very special sister, Mary Wilson of Perrysville, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son James W. Ellis, and two brothers Eli and Larry Ellis. He was retired from Illinois Power Company where he worked for over forty years. As a young man he enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corp. where he helped build several parks. James enjoyed cars and motorcycles and working on them. He had a love of traveling and camping. A love he passed on to his children and grandchildren. James was a loyal friend and cherished spending time with his friends, some whom hed been close to since grade school. He loved his family and he will be missed by them very much. A celebration of Jamess life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery in Covington, Indiana. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2007, at the funeral home.
