James G. Driscoll, 81, formerly of Glidden, WI and Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 1, 2024.
James, known as Jim, was raised as an only child on the same dairy farm as his father in Glidden, WI. Consequently, he was skilled in many areas such as plumbing, electrical/mechanical repairs, house repairs (roofing, plastering, painting), and woodworking. He also seemed to have a photographic memory related to medical information. He had a beautiful singing voice and was light on his feet, especially when dancing the polka at family weddings. Jim played the piano by ear and was a talented harmonica player as well. (He owned many of them in different keys.) He was physically strong and loved swimming, canoeing, and whitewater rafting. He played on a company baseball team for a few years and could outrun most anyone. Jim moved to Milwaukee, WI to attend a trade school and lived there nearly 50 years. The majority of his career was spent at Louis Allis, a company that manufactures specialty motors. Following retirement, he returned to the family farm in Glidden and enjoyed many years there.
Jim was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Frances Pugh (Warren), in January 2022. He was also predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Gilda (Rebella) Driscoll. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Driscoll, and sons Raymond Driscoll, Ronald Driscoll, and Benedict Driscoll. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Xochitl Driscoll and grandchildren Joshua (Kim) Driscoll, Renee Driscoll, Ronny Driscoll Jr., Sarah Roberts, Danielle Roberts, and great granddaughter Adeline-Kate Driscoll. Also of significance is his former wife of 23 years, Angela (Marx) Driscoll, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Jim requested that no visitation or funeral be planned in his memory. The family will hold a private ceremony at a date to be determined. They will be ever grateful to the staff who took good care of him at Batavia Rehabilitation & Health Care Center and Three Oaks Hospice.
Cremation rites have been accorded at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 710 N. Neil St. Champaign, IL. 61820
