James D. Miller, Jr.

James D. Miller, Jr, 86, of Westville, passed away at 3:21am, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL. He was born on February 13, 1936, in Tilton, IL the son of James Sr and Mary {Burton} Miller. He was united in marriage to Patricia B. Miller on August 17, 1957, until her passing in 1994. James is survived by his children, Michael J. Miller of Danville, John D. Miller of Christiana, TN, James D. Miller III of Yakima, WA, Mark A. Miller of Gladeville, TN, Patrick M. (Tammy) Miller of Raleigh, NC, Donna M. (Tom) Rieden of Westville, & Paul A. (Laura) Miller of Apex, NC; his grandchildren, Amanda, Christina, John, Ryan, Sarah, Brandon, Melissa, Shaun, Kennedi, Emma, Drew, Maguire, & Jeremy; his several great grandchildren with more on the way; and his sister-in-law, Priscilla Miller of Tilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Miller; two sisters; and five brothers. James was known to be the essential family man and devoted his life to being there for his family. He worked at General Motors as an electrician for many years. He could always be seen attending his kids and grandkids sporting events. He was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and fighting Illini. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of James life will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883. Visitation will be held 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest on Monday May 23, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Westville, IL. A dinner will be following the graveside at Westville American Legion at 5:00pm. Memorial donations may be given in his name to donors choice of charity.
