James William “Bill” Frye, 77 of Oakwood, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 12:28 PM at Gardenview Manor in Danville. Bill is survived by his daughter, Teri (Mike) Randall of Oakwood; sons, Jim (Judy) Frye and Tony (Kim) Frye both of Oakwood; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many special friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carolyn, daughter Lori Sellers, and sister, Claudette Moore. Bill was born September 15, 1937 in Armstrong to Walter and Thelma (Greer) Frye. He attended Oakwood schools and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1955. He then married the love of his life, Carolyn Morris, on October 18, 1955 in Paris. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2012. Bill was a truck driver for Flex-N-Gate in Urbana and was a member of the Catlin Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed genealogy, hunting, fishing, and anything out doors. Bill loved to sing Karaoke and would find out where his daughter Teri was going to be hosting it so he could show up and sing. He had recorded his own CD in Sevierville, TN. Bill liked to spend time with family and like to hang out at Henks Bait Shop and the Oakwood truck stops. He loved to interact with people at these places as well as anywhere he went. Bill was never too busy to stop and talk to you. He was always there to lend a helping hand with whatever anyone needed. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. Cremation rites will be accorded with a celebration of Bills life being held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel, 105 East South Main Street, Oakwood, IL. Pastor Dave Garver will be officiating. Private burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
