James Big Jim Allen Brown, 51, of Danville passed away at 12:41am Thursday, March 12, 2009, from the result of a single car accident on Henning Road. He was born January 21, 1958, in Danville, the son of James Calvin Brown and Karen Sue (Riley) Brown. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Becky Woods, on July 1, 1978, at a small ceremony in Danville. He is survived by his parents, Calvin Brown and Karen Brown, both of Danville, his wife, Becky, of Danville, his daughter, Lindsey LeAnne (Curtis) Owens of Danville, two granddaughters, Dakotta Jade Owens and Darbiee Jace Owens, both of Danville, grandparents, Richard Dicky and Geraldine Booboo Wodetzki, one brother, Bob (Vicky) Brown of Danville, and many aunts, uncles, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Jim attended Danville High School until 1976. He was a successful operating engineer for over 35 years. He began operating machinery before a legal driving age, working many years for his familys business, Browns Trucking and Excavating. Jim loved his family first and foremost. He lived life to its fullest, playing with his granddaughters, enjoying his close knit friends, attending NASCAR and dirt track races, and golfing. Big Jim could always make a person smile and laugh with his stories and jokes. Jim will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of life for Jim will be held at 10:00am, Monday, March 16, 2009, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., with Dan Huffine officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm on Sunday, March 15, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Jims name to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63131-3597.
