James Baumgart

James A. Baumgart, 72, of Danville passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville. He was born March 20, 1946 in Danville, the son of Robert M. and Ruby Mae (Smith) Baumgart. James was united in marriage to Patricia (Susie) Shatell on April 16, 1972, she survives.

Jim loved attending his grandsons ballgames, surprising fidgety babies by blowing bubbles, and riding around in his old cars. He retired from Local 157 and had been a union member for 52 years.

He will be dearly missed by his sons; C. Rusty (Kelly) Rice of Petersburg, Indiana, James R. (Dewi) Baumgart of East Rutherford, NJ and daughter, Heather N. (Robert) Roach of Countryside, Illinois; grandsons, Chancellor Baumgart-Roach, Braxton, Brody, Brayten and Brayson Rice, sisters; Bobette L. Compton and Mary A. Cottle, sisters-in-laws; Rhonda Baumgart, Bobette G. & Dwain Howard and Dorene & Dave Durrant, and nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother Paul, brother-in-law Melvin Compton, a niece Barbara Stitt and a nephew Marty Compton.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.
