James Allen Jurumbo, 70, of Georgetown, passed away at 11:43am, Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at his home. He was born in Saginaw, MI, on August 17, 1940, the son of Adam and Sophie {Witek} Jurumbo, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Margaret Bauer on May 25, 1968, in Saginaw, MI. She will miss him dearly. Others who will miss him include: his daughter, Andrea Jurumbo of Georgetown; his sons, Scott (Jami) Jurumbo of Danville, Brian (Kandy) Jurumbo of Gastonia, NC, Neil (Jennifer) Jurumbo of Georgetown, & Kristopher (Maggie) Jurumbo of Georgetown; his grandchildren, whom he loved very much, Ciara, Tami, Clayton, Cody, Chase, Mason, Katelyn, Bria, Gage, Lynsey, Gabe, Tristen, & Aubrey; his sisters, Dorothy (Greg) Brefka of Frankenmuth, MI, Alice (Brian) Cain of Holland, MI, & Elaine Jurumbo of Manhattan, NY; and his faithful dog, Odie. He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice and his granddaughter, Luzi. James worked for close to 30 years at General Motors before retiring. He also had worked as a steelworker and was a member of the Steelworkers Credit Union. He was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force and served during Vietnam, as well as, a member of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. He enjoyed being outdoors either camping or hiking or having cookouts with his family & friends. He loved going to ballgames and loved to watch sports of any kind, especially enjoyed watching the Michigan Wolverines compete. He was known for sitting on his back porch listening to country music and enjoying life. James was a friend to all and will be deeply missed. God Bless. A celebration of James life will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, December 6, 2010, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Chapel, A Life Celebration Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Steve Rutter officiating. Visitation will be held 1pm-5pm, Sunday, December 5, 2010, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given in his name to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.
