James A. Shuman 79, of Westville, passed away at 1:55am, Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living, Chrisman. He was born August 16, 1935, in Westville the son of Albert “Preach” and Louise Rossini Shuman. Jim married Myrna Grant on April 25, 1959 in Assumption, IL. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his daughter, Jamie (Michael) Johnson of Westville; his two grandsons, Luke and Benjamin Johnson, both of Westville; one sister in-law, Martha Hutchens of Osage Beach, MO; a favorite nephew, George Chiaramello of Westville; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Charlotte “Shy” (George) Chiaramello; and one brother, Robert “Butler” (Carolyn) Shuman. In his early years Jim worked for William Davies Packing Plant in Danville and later retired from G.M. in Tilton after 25 years. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air force. He was a member of St. Marys Church in Westville and was an usher for 30 years, also the Westville American Legion Post #51 and The Knights of Columbus in Danville. Jim enjoyed golfing, playing Bocci Ball and gardening. He was a cardinal and Bears fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandsons. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at St. Marys Church in Westville with Father Timothy Sauppe officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville. A Rosary will be held at 4pm. Burial will be in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Westville with Military Honors by the Westville American Legion Post # 51. Memorial donations can be made to the donors choice.
