James A. Hume, 78, of Georgetown, formerly of Oakwood, passed away at 4:30pm Sunday June 12, 2005 at Veterans Administration Illiana Health Care System, Danville. He was born September 28, 1926 in Batestown, Illinois, the son of the late Nasby and Laura (Osborn) Hume. He married Flora LaVerne Fourez on February 3, 1945 in Batestown. She preceded him in death in February, 1971. He later married Florence C. High on July 14, 1972 in Danville. She survives. Jim is also survived by three sons; Terry L. (Christine) Hume of Oakwood, Gary E. (Laurie) Hume of Havana, Illinois and Tony Lee (Jamie) Hume of Oakwood, two daughters; Bonnie F. (Clifford) Lindsey of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and Patsy M. (Ryan) Digby of Georgetown, 21 grandchildren; Todd, Tony Troy, Lora, Carla, Ricky, Billy James, TJ, Brandon, Travis, Matthew, Blake, Austin, Kirsten, Cliff, Dammion, John, Tiffany, Frank, and Ryan; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, four sisters; Clarellen Sample, Opal Swangle, Goldie Porter, and Blanchie Hubbard, one brother; John Hume, and one great-grandchild. He was an electrician by trade working for Ayreshire Collieries for 15 years and then retiring from Lauhoff Grain Company in 1996, with 30 years of service. Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and mushrooming. He was a former member of the Danville Moose Lodge.
