James A. Hoctor

Mahomet- James A. Hoctor Jr. 76, of Mahomet, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2013 at his residence. Jim was born Nov. 24, 1936 in Pittsfield, MA to James A. and Stella Teresa Lingoski Hoctor Sr. He married Patricia A Raline on April 6, 1957 in Pittsfield, MA., she survives. Also surviving are 3 sons; David (Lauren) Hoctor of Independence, KY, Joseph (Tina) Hoctor of Mahomet, IL, and Stephen (Catherine) Hoctor of Momence, IL. A daughter, Theresa (Timm) Martin of Williamsburg, KY; 7 grandchildren; Angelique (Joshua) Morrow, Dianna Carver, Madeline, Joel, Evelyn, Evan, and Alexander Hoctor. Other survivors include a sister Joanne (Richard) Marran of Hinsdale, MA a brother Richard (Kathleen) Hoctor of Lee, MA. Also surviving are 3 stepbrothers; John and Thomas Comalli both in CA., and James Comalli of MD; a step sister Jane Carmel of MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sylvia, and a brother, Timothy. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he made it his career as a radar operator. He retired from the Air Force in 1974. After retirement he changed careers and managed the Fashion Outlet in Champaign for 10 years. He then worked for JC Penney, Plastipak, and Plastic Container Corporation. Most recently he had worked part time for Carle Clinic. Jim was a very devoted Catholic who attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, where he served as a lectern and an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Jim was known by his family to be very patriotic and he enjoyed painting pictures, bowling, hunting, and golfing. The two main loves in his life were fishing and his family. As per his wishes, Jim will be cremated and a private family service will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Champaign- Urbana Chapel, 710 N. Neil St., in Champaign. Jim's remains will be interred in the National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Mahomet Area Youth Center 601 E Franklin St, Mahomet, IL 61853 or The Don Moyer Boys & Girls Club 201 E Park St, Champaign, IL 61820.
