Danville - Jacque Eicher, of Danville Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 12 at the Hawthorne Inn Nursing facility. Born July 23, 1936 to Elmus and Eva (Wallace) Mullane in East St. Louis Illinois. Jacque and her family resided in the Belleville area for many years. Jacque graduated from Belleville Township High School and attended Belleville Community College before transferring to Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri for 1 year. Jacque wed her High School sweetheart, Glen Eicher, on August 23, 1958.

Glen and Jacque welcomed three children over the course of their marriage: son Kent born 1959 (deceased 1993), son Jeffrey born in 1961 (married Cynthia), daughter Karen born in 1965 (married John Strong - deceased 1995). Jacque had 1 grandchild, Thomas, born in 1994 whom she loved dearly.

Jacque resumed her college career at The University of Illinois where she received her Bachelor's degree and received a Master's degree from Eastern Illinois University, both in teaching. Jacque worked for many years teaching elementary level children at Rantoul, Douglas, Edison, Liberty, and Cannon Schools. She retired in 2002 to help take care of her husband Glen after a long illness. Jacque was a member of St. James Methodist Church and participated in many functions. Jacque was active in her community through several organizations including the Danville Dyslexia Center, United Methodist Women, Danville Garden Club, Retired Teacher's Association, Danville Sunrise Rotary, and PEO. Glen and Jacque welcomed several exchange students through Rotary International and loved learning about them and their cultures. Glen and Jacque spent a good deal of time and energy on raising and caring for their family especially their two sons, both of which developed Type 1 Diabetes at a very young age. Due to their love and care, both sons grew to adulthood and thrived even attaining their Eagle Scout ranks from the Boy Scouts.

Jacque participated in the boys Scouting careers as a Den Mother and accompanied them on many camping trips. Jacque also supported son Jeff and daughter Karen's school band careers through the band booster groups. Jacque was raised as an only child after the death of her brother, Leonard in 1937 and had a small extended family. As a result, she wholeheartedly welcomed and loved her husband, Glen's, large extended family and kept in touch with them after his passing in 2007. Jacque loved her plants and flower gardens and participating in the Garden Club, even attaining and keeping her Master Gardener's certificate for many years. Jacque's main passion was for teaching. After retiring from classroom teaching, she helped to set up and participate in tutoring students at the Danville Dyslexia Center. Jacque loved to crochet and made many baby blankets, prayer shawls, and scarfs for her family and friends over the years.

Jacque is preceded in death by her parents, Elmus and Eva (Wallace) Mullane, her brother, Leonard Mullane, husband Glen Eicher, son Kent Eicher, and Daughter Karen Eicher Strong. Jacque is survived by her son, Jeffrey (wife Cynthia), grandson Thomas, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Danville Dyslexia Center or The American Diabetes Association.

Visitation for Jacque Eicher will be held from 1-3 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial and a private graveside service for family and intimate friends will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
