Jacqueline Van De Walker

Danville – Jacqueline “Jackie” J. Van De Walker, 86, passed away at 9:45 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health. She was born October 23, 1939, in Westville. She married Elden “Van” R. Van De Walker on February 14, 1970, in Champaign. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2003.

She is survived by six children, Mary Jean Shadwick of Mattoon, Kurt (LuAn) Johnson of Westville, Julie Kinnonen of Florida, Sam Johnson of Danville, Sigma Williams of Tilton, and Fred Van De Walker of Potomac; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other extended family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a step-sister, Ela Mae Goladay.

Jackie graduated from Schlarman High School. She would go on to work for Peterson-Puritan, later KIK, for over twenty years. She loved to spend her free time knitting and held a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats and dogs. More recently, Jackie loved to socialize with residents and staff at Hoopeston Heritage during her time there.

Jackie’s family would like to extend a special thank you nurses and staff of Heritage Health, Carle Hoopeston Regional Health, and IMH Hospice for their dedicated and loving care.

A service to celebrate the life of Jackie Van De Walker will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2 PM on Friday prior to the service, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials in her name may be made to the Heritage Health Activities Department or the C-Wing Memory Care Unit.
