Newport, Ind. - Jackie Lynn Roderick, 69, of Newport, passed away at 1:31 p.m. EST Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born October 15, 1949 in East Chicago, Indiana the daughter of the late Esther (Johnson) Kinderman and John Henry.

Jackie married James A. Roderick on December 31, 1966. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2011.

Survivors include her children: Mike (Lisa) Roderick of Rosedale, Indiana; Brian Roderick and Jamie (Kenny Fortner) Roderick both of Newport, Indiana; special friend: John Powell of Newport, Indiana; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters: Carolyn Peer of West Lebanon, Indiana; Cleola (Ronnie) Short of Hillsdale, Indiana and Judy (Dale) West of Brazil, Indiana; four brothers: Ted Henry of Champaign, Illinois; Jack Edward Henry of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Robert (Dail Ellen) Henry of Hillsdale, Indiana and James (JoAnn) Page of Trenton, Georgia.

Jackie was preceded in death by her step father: Ralph Kinderman; infant grandson: Nicholas A. Roderick; sister: Shirley Miller and brother: Terry Henry.

Retiring after over 30 years of service, Jackie worked in the local nursing homes and hospitals as a Nurses Aide. She enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, gardening, shooting pool and watching the Green Bay Packers.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Burial of cremains will be at Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Parke/Vermillion Humane Society, 1884 South State Road 63, Hillsdale, Indiana 47854. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
