Jackie W Harrold Jr.,71, a devoted family man and dedicated public servant, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 11, 2026. Born and raised in Georgetown, Illinois, on August 27, 1954, Jackie led a life marked by commitment, athleticism, and service to his community.

Jackie's career was distinguished by over thirty years of unwavering dedication to the Vermilion County Sheriff Department Corrections, where he served with honor and distinction. In addition to his work with law enforcement, he contributed his skills and compassion to Arrow Ambulance, extending his service to those in need within his community.

An avid athlete in his youth, Jackie enjoyed playing baseball, football, and wrestling. His involvement in the Boy Scouts further exemplified his commitment to discipline and camaraderie. Notably, Jackie also wrestled professionally, a testament to his strength and determination. Among his proudest accomplishments was coaching girls’ softball, sharing his passion for sports and mentorship with the younger generation and his daughters.

Above all, Jackie loved his family deeply. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julia (Dinsmore) Harrold; his children, James "Jim" (Kristian Sapp) Ford, Misty Ray Harrold, and Megan (Scott) Wernigk; and his beloved grandchildren Ambria (Jackson Downey) Germann, Brooklynn Germann, and Wrenleigh Wernigk. He was also a great-grandfather to Khai Downey. Jackie’s bond with his family extended to his sister, Karla (Darrel) Starwalt, and his brothers David (Danna) Harrold and Scott (Penny) Harrold, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Among his close friends were Rick Long and Steve Sliva, who shared in the joys and challenges of life alongside him.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Joy (Cope) Harrold Sr., whose legacy lives on through his many loved ones.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home - Houghton Leasure, located at 200 East West Street, Georgetown, Illinois 61846. This will be followed immediately by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Matt Filicksy officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Cemetery.

Jackie W Harrold Jr.'s life was one of service, athletic spirit, and deep familial love. He leaves behind a community and family enriched by his presence, whose memories will be cherished and carried forward with respect and affection.
