Jack Schingel, 87 of Alvin, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:41 AM at his home. He was born September 3, 1928 in Danville to Frank J. and Mary (Brennan) Schingel. Jack married Dorothy M. Adams on June 2, 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. She survives. Also surviving are his four sons, Scott (Robin) of Urbana, Dan (Diane) of Murphysboro, IL, David (Marcia) of Crystal Lake, IL, and Eric (Janet) of Fishers, IN; nine grandchildren, Alec, John, Mason, Luke, Matthew, Gabrielle, Allison, Lauren, and Andrew; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sister Kevin (Patricia) Schingel. Jack served in the US Navy for two years and retired from Lauhoff/ Bunge in 1994 as accounting manager. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville serving on the Parish council and the vocation committee. Jack was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Danville Elks Lodge 332, and American Legion Post 210. A celebration of Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut Street, Danville. Fr. Greg Nelson will officiate. He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will be from 9:30- 10:30 AM Monday, June 6, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, Danville. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Jack's name to Schlarman Academy or St. Paul's Catholic Church.
