Jack Ray Mears

Jack Ray Mears, 75, of Covington, IN, passed away at 4:51am, Monday, May 15, 2023, at Franciscan Health Hospital, Crawfordsville, IN. He was born in Danville, IL, on December 24, 1947, the son of Ray S. and Marjorie Maxine {Dismore} Mears, both deceased. On June 28, 1970, he was united in marriage to Kay Collins. She will miss him dearly. Jack will also be missed by his son, Jason (Keri) Mears of Lakeland, Florida; his grandchildren, Chase (Lauren) Mears, and Collin (Skyler) Mears; Rosa Klossner adopted Jack as her Grandpa; his great grandchildren, Myah, Lily, Lucas, Aiden, and one on the way (Sabella Jane); and his brother, Alan (Amy) Mears. Jack was part of the first graduating class from Fountain High School in 1966. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam. He worked for RR Donnelly and retired after 34 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, searching for antiques, and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. He also enjoyed the outdoors, primarily deer hunting as well as walking on the beach looking for shells. Jack was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and Indiana University. He was very patriotic, loved his Country, and held God first in his life. He was a member of the Stringtown Church of God. Jack will be remembered lovingly by all who knew him. A celebration of Jacks life will be held at 1:00pm (EST), Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Stringtown Church of God, 2390 S. Stringtown Road, Covington, IN 47932 with Pastor Keith Klossner officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm (EST) on Saturday prior to his service at the Church.
