Jack Crawley, 76, passed away on Wednesday April 13, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL. He was born on December 16, 1945 to Everett and Helen Crawley in Danville, IL.
Jack is survived by two sons, Jerry (Becky) Crawley of Covington and Tim (Stephanie) Crawley of Danville; three daughters, Laurie (Jim) Forshier of Danville, Jennifer (Jim) Kerwin of Phoenix, AZ and Krista (Ryan Hook) Crawley of Phoenix, AZ; twelve grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Brittany, Katie, Eddie, Joe, Owen, Cole, Katelyn, Cooper, Olivia, and Evan; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Patty (Don) Lau of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Ruth Chiaramello of Westville, Donna (Jim) Delattre of Tilton and Linda (Merle) Sager of Tilton.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; Mick, George, Tom, Jupe, and his twin Jerry; and two sisters Barbara and Betty.
Jack served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967. He married Joyce Kinney on July 8, 1967 in Danville, IL at St. Josephs church. After serving his country he took a job at Western Brickyard for several months before working for Pepsi Cola General Bottlers in various positions. He worked there from 1968 to 1990, ending as an Operations Manager. From 1990 to 2001 he owned and operated J&J Snacks, serving a wide area from Danville to east of Peoria. From 2001 to 2010, Jack worked for Danville Big R North, finishing his years there as a Sporting Goods Manger.
Jack served as President of the Danville Jaycees in 1977 to 1978. He was a JCI Senator #26979. He believed in helping people and giving back to his community. He served on many projects and committees and was voted Jaycee of the year. Jack was inducted into the Danville area Bowling Hall of Fame for his contributions to furthering mens, womens, and youth bowling in the area. When he worked for Pepsi he started the Mens Pepsi and the Womens Diet Pepsi bowling classics called the Battle of the Stars. Jack was a member of the Danville Post 210 American Legion for over 45 years. He coached for several years on his sons baseball teams. He started the first live radio broadcast of the Youth Little League baseball championships and was inducted into the Post 210 Youth Little League Hall of Fame. Jack was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree for over 45 years. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids and traveling with his wife. He enjoyed fishing, working on his pond and garden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut St. Danville, IL 61832. Officiating will be Father Bo Schmitt. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery following mass. Visitation will be held the evening prior from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Memorial donations may be made in Jacks name to the American Cancer Society.
