JACK LEE McDONALD Jack Lee McDonald, 64, of Danville, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2006 at his residence. Jack was born on November 4, 1941 in Danville, the son of Roy Clark and Dorothy Marie (Thornsbrough) McDonald. He married Martha Sue Wickman on June 15, 1962 in Danville. She survives. He is survived by one son- Thomas (Alyssa) McDonald of Nashville, Illinois; one daughter- Teresa (Robert) Nimrick of Largo, Florida; three grandsons- Jeremy Nimrick of Largo, Florida, Joe-seph McDonald of Danville, and Javier Rivera of Danville; special friends- John Nimrick of Indianola, Illinois, George Smith of Danville, Joe Bannon of Danville, Rachel McDonald of Danville, Sharon Clancy of Danville, and Jimmy Walker of Danville; Jack is also survived by several other very special friends. His parents, one brother- David McDonald, and his maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Jack graduated from Westville High School in 1960. After school he joined, the United States Navy where he served during the Vietnam War from 1960 to 1964. After the service, he went to work for Bohn Aluminum, where he worked until he decided to go to electrical school. Jack attended four years of electrical training to become a journeyman electrician where he worked at IBEW Local #538 as an electrician from 1969-2001. Jack was a very strong union man and served as an election judge for the union meetings for several years. Jack loved to do anything outdoors. He loved to go fishing, camping, mushroom hunting, and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his friends drinking coffee and just visiting. Jack loved to play horseshoes and card games. He would enjoy spending hours working on his computer. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and any other type of western movies. Jack enjoyed square dancing and was a former member of the Frontier Twirlers. In the early 1980s Jack earned his black belt in martial arts. As a younger man, he was a member of 4H, where he had some articles published in the newspaper. Jack was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch the Illini, Bears and Cubs. He was also an avid coal bucket attendee and a Westville Tiger fan. A celebration of the life of Jack Lee McDonald will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, with Rev. Jay Sorrell officiating. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Springhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vermilion County Conservation District.
