Jack D. White, 82, of Urbana, passed away at 11:25 AM on Friday, February 14, 2014 at his residence. He was born March 9, 1931 In Chicago, the son of Ed and Mary Kate (Frazier) White. He married JoEllyn Perry on January 22, 1954 in Marshall, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include his 2 sons, Stanton (Jacquie) White of Champaign and Samuel F. White of Crystal Lake, Illinois; 1 sister, Marilyn Lynch of Fairmount; and 5 grandchildren, Hailey (Judd) Gould of Bloomington, Zachary K. White of Crystal Lake, Casey White of Champaign, Jacob F. White of Crystal Lake, and Ellen V. White of Crystal Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Fred White. Jack formerly worked at Chanute Air Force Base, Viking Plumbing in Danville, and GHR Engineering in Champaign. He was an avid Kansas City Royals and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed watching the University of Illinois Basketball. He also was known for announcing local high school events. Jack was very proud that he “successfully avoided joining any organizations.” As per Jacks wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Champaign-Urbana Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
