Jack C. Strahl

Jack C. Strahl passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Jack was a devoted husband, adored father and grandfather. He was the foundation, heart, soul and wit of his small family. An astute businessman, Jack was the longtime operator of Frank J. Strahl & Sons Inc., a Danville institution founded by his father in 1924. Jack was an avid traveler who enjoyed being anywhere he wasn't. He was known for planning trips while on a trip. His sense of humor, pranks and fun loving nature were balanced with his business acumen and generosity. He lived life his way - all in. "Go big or go home" wasn't just something he frequently said, it was representative of his enthusiasm for life as a whole. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank J. Strahl, Sr. and Georgia (Watson) Strahl; a brother, Frank J. Strahl Jr.; sisters, Mary Jayne Wadsworth, Margaret Frances Strahl, Barbara Gonzales, Patricia Clark, Sandra Lynch and Janice (Toni) Naylor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally J. (Pettigrew) Strahl; daughter, Susan (Stephen) Hayes; granddaughter, Shelby West; grandson, Clayton West; sisters, Marjorie Watters, Joann Wells and Georgia Lee Hanciaux and brother, Edward Strahl. Jack was a Mason and Shriner. He proudly served in the US Army and was a Master Plumber. A celebration of Jacks life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL 61834. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be at the Spring Hill Cemetery & Mausoleum at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
