Iverne Johnson

Iverne L. Johnson, 79, of Rantoul passed away Thursday (May 25, 2023) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the American Lutheran Church, Rantoul. The Rev. Jeanette Thorp will officiate. She will be buried beside her husband in Eden Park Cemetery, Rantoul. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.

She was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Cole Camp, Mo., a daughter of Clarence and Matilda (Kerksiek) Koeller. She married Charles E. Johnson on Feb. 28, 1964, in Metropolis. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2018.

She is survived by three children, Tina (Scott) James of Rantoul, Kevin (Molly) Johnson of Rantoul and Shelly (Michael) Dunn of Rantoul; seven grandchildren, Kurtis Johnson, Candace Johnson, Rachel Dunn, Travis Dunn, Joshua James, John Ehler and Jessi Young; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Diana Moellmann of Cole Camp; and two brothers, Alvin (Maurine) Koeller of Florence, Mo., and Kenneth (Barbara) Koeller of Sedalia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, David Moellmann, Gabe Johnson and Wilbur Johnson; and a sister-in-law, Del McDaniel.

Iverne was a graduate of Cole Camp High School. She helped her husband with the family business, ARC Refrigeration Center, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church since 1964. She enjoyed traveling, being a military wife and sharing time with her family.
